NRCA member gives back to support workforce development

Rob Kornahrens of NRCA member Advanced Roofing, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., recently visited Junior Achievement of South Florida for a hands-on workshop.

Junior Achievement of South Florida is dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices. Programs are delivered by corporate and community volunteers and provide relevant, hands-on experiences to help students learn about financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship.

During the workshop, key industry topics included safety standards, roofing fundamentals and diagnostic technologies, and students had the opportunity to experience firsthand the process of assembling a TPO roof system.

Kornahrens and his wife, Maureen, have donated $50,000 to Junior Achievement through the Huizenga Legacy Society.

Kornahrens said: “Watching these young individuals engage with curiosity and determination is a powerful reminder of why investing in workforce development is so important.”

Attracting young workers is crucial for the roofing industry. Be sure to check out NRCA’s website, careersinroofing.com, which offers resources that highlight the career opportunities available in the roofing industry and provides a recruitment tool for roofing companies.
